Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke, said ONLINE small businesses in communities throughout Mitchell were given a boost this week as the Turnbull-Joyce Government delivered on a 2016-17 Budget measure to level the playing field with the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on items purchased online.

“The Government has this week introduced legislation to level the playing field for Australian businesses which compete with overseas businesses,” Alex Hawke said.

Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP,  welcomed the news that children aged two to five will have immediate and free access to Kalydeco® (ivacaftor) – a life-changing drug that addresses the causes of cystic fibrosis rather than just the symptoms.

“Expanding access to this vital drug is fantastic news for Australian families. We know that many parents have been worried about how their young son or daughter could get access to this life-changing drug. Now they have it.” Alex Hawke said.

Superfast broadband has arrived in Rouse Hill, Beaumont Hills, Kellyville, Bella Vista and parts of Castle Hill as the nbn makes services available to more than 10,614 homes and businesses in the electorate of Mitchell. Residents in Rouse Hill, Beaumont Hills, Kellyville, Bella Vista and parts of Castle Hill can begin ordering their nbn service from a retail service provider this week.

Assistant Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, has today welcomed Fremantle council’s decision to reinstate a citizenship ceremony at the Fremantle Town Hall on Australia Day, January 26th 2017.

The newest citizens in Fremantle will be offered the choice of attending a citizenship ceremony at Fremantle Town Hall on Australia Day, or the next scheduled ceremony at Fremantle Arts Centre on March 14th 2017, as normal.

Assistant Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, has today written to the City of Fremantle Council to warn them to abandon plans to politicise Australian citizenship.

This follows the Council’s decision to promote and host a citizenship ceremony on a day they are marketing as an anti-Australia Day alternative to traditional Australia Day celebrations.
