Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, said the Turnbull Government is getting young Australians ready and able to join the workforce through the innovative Youth Jobs PaTH programme.
Youth Jobs PaTH (Prepare-Trial-Hire) will help will increase young people’s job prospects by ensuring they are better prepared for the workplace and encouraging more businesses to open the door to them.
Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, welcomed news seventy-year-old Australians can now get the shingles vaccine for free.
Alex Hawke said the shingles vaccine will be free to eligible people, with a catch-up program available for adults aged 71 to 79 years.
“This new National Shingles Vaccination Program is an important reminder that vaccinations don’t stop at childhood,” Alex Hawke said.
“Regardless of how healthy and fit you feel, as you age you are at increased risk of contracting serious illnesses.
The Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, encourages young local athletes to apply for Round 3, 2016-17 of the Local Sporting Champions program.
The Local Sporting Champions program is designed to support young people participating in state, national and international level sporting championships as an athlete, coach or official.
“The Hills district has produced some outstanding sportspeople over the years and it is important that we support the next generation of Australian sporting champions, said Alex Hawke.
Encouraging health and wellbeing and tackling the challenges faced by veterans and their families is a priority for the Australian Government, Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, said to mark Veterans’ Health Week.
Veterans’ Health Week runs from 22-30 October and this year focuses on social connection, with more than 300 events planned around the country.
“Our country owes enormous gratitude to the men and women who serve in defence of our country,” Alex Hawke said.
Young Australians in Mitchell who are passionate about science and maths now have more opportunities to learn from and compete with the best through new government funding for a range of science, technology, engineering and maths activities.
