Every pre-schooler in Mitchell will have the opportunity to learn a foreign language as the Turnbull Government announced that applications for the popular Early Learning Languages Australia (ELLA) program are now open.
Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, called on local preschools to apply for the national rollout of the play-based tablet app for devices like iPads.
Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, said Mitchell small businesses will have increased protections under Australian consumer law, thanks to new laws which have recently taken effect.
Changes to Australian unfair contract terms under consumer law will allow Australia’s more than 2.1 million small businesses to have the same protections as available to consumers, following an extensive consultation and implementation period.
Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, has encouraged the community to honour Remembrance Day and remember every Australian who has made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of our nation.
“Remembrance Day on November 11 marks 98 years since the Armistice that ended the First World War,” Alex Hawke said.
“I encourage everyone to pause for one minute’s silence at 11am and to wear a red poppy in memory of our servicemen and women who have lost their lives fighting for our freedom in both World Wars and in all theatres of war and conflict.

Youth Jobs PaTH (Prepare-Trial-Hire) will help will increase young people’s job prospects by ensuring they are better prepared for the workplace and encouraging more businesses to open the door to them.
Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, welcomed news seventy-year-old Australians can now get the shingles vaccine for free.
Alex Hawke said the shingles vaccine will be free to eligible people, with a catch-up program available for adults aged 71 to 79 years.
“This new National Shingles Vaccination Program is an important reminder that vaccinations don’t stop at childhood,” Alex Hawke said.
“Regardless of how healthy and fit you feel, as you age you are at increased risk of contracting serious illnesses.
