Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, encourages first home buyers to take advantage of the Turnbull Government’s First Home Super Saver Scheme, which came into effect on 1 July.
The scheme, announced in this year’s Budget, will give first home savers the ability to accelerate their savings by at least 30 per cent.
First home buyers will be able to save for a house deposit within their superannuation by making voluntary contributions of up to $15,000 per year and $30,000 in total into their superannuation account.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is the new way of providing support for people with disability in Australia. Already, more than 78,000 Australians have joined the NDIS.
The NDIS has been available in the Western Sydney region since 1 July 2016. By June 2019, more than 16,800 people in the region are expected to be part of the Scheme.

A competition that gives local students in Mitchell the chance to win a trip to Antarctica has been extended until Friday, 7 July 2017.
The ‘Name our Icebreaker’ competition will see up to 12 students fly to Antarctica for a day and become the first children to set foot on the continent under the Australian Antarctic Division program.
Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, said that the competition deadline has been extended by four weeks to allow more students the opportunity to enter.

The Local Sporting Champions program is designed to support young people participating in state, national and international level sporting championships as an athlete, coach or official.
