The Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, together with Tristan Smith, Acting Chief Executive Officer, hosted 157 local students at the Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum at Vision Valley from the 18 – 20 October 2018.

“The Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum was an amazing success with 157 students from 15 local high schools involved – the Forum is a significant opportunity for the students to be inspired and encouraged for their future potential in the lead up to their final year of school.

Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, has urged young athletes aged 12-18 to apply for a Local Sporting Champions grant to support their involvement in sport.

“The Coalition Government is committed to getting Australian kids more active, more often,” Alex Hawke said.

“That’s why I’m encouraging young athletes, coaches and officials in Mitchell to apply for a Local Sporting Champions grant before the deadline closes on 31 October.”

Small and medium-sized businesses in Mitchell will pay less tax five years sooner, with new laws fast tracking tax relief for the sector passing Parliament today.

“This is great news for the 17,536 small and medium-sized businesses in Mitchell and the people they employ,”Alex Hawke said.

“This means businesses in Mitchell will keep more of their own money – that’s money they can invest back into their business, to create jobs, to boost their productivity and grow.”

Mental health care for young Australians is set for a $51.8 million funding boost.

Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, said the Government’s extra investment in the national network of headspace centres and the digital portal, eheadspace, means young people will have access to around 14,000 additional services nationally, shorter wait times and extra clinical staff.

“We want young people to know they are not alone on their journey, and that we’re backing quality frontline support,” Alex Hawke said.
