Small and medium-sized businesses in Mitchell will pay less tax five years sooner, with new laws fast tracking tax relief for the sector passing Parliament today.

“This is great news for the 17,536 small and medium-sized businesses in Mitchell and the people they employ,”Alex Hawke said.

“This means businesses in Mitchell will keep more of their own money – that’s money they can invest back into their business, to create jobs, to boost their productivity and grow.”

Mental health care for young Australians is set for a $51.8 million funding boost.

Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, said the Government’s extra investment in the national network of headspace centres and the digital portal, eheadspace, means young people will have access to around 14,000 additional services nationally, shorter wait times and extra clinical staff.

“We want young people to know they are not alone on their journey, and that we’re backing quality frontline support,” Alex Hawke said.

KIERAN GILBERT: Welcome back to the program, gay teachers and students could be rejected by religious schools under a new proposal in the Government’s religious freedom review, the Ruddock review as its known. Fairfax has obtained a copy of the report, which recommends allowing religious schools to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity or relationship status.

The Coalition Government has re-opened the Mobile Black Spot Program’s Database of Reported Black Spot Locations for new nominations from state and local governments, and Federal Members of Parliament.
