Mr HAWKE (Mitchell—Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs) (10:03): I rise today to talk about the impact of the recent heavy rain and flooding that has occurred in parts of north-west Sydney, affecting my electorate of Mitchell and adjoining communities—and I acknowledge the member for Berowra and his community here as well.

The Australian Government is backing volunteers, with up to $20 million available to support volunteers across the nation.
Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, said up to $132,450 is available in Mitchell as part of the 2021 Volunteer Grants round.

More than 1,000 General Practices, including those in Mitchell will join the COVID-19 vaccination program from next week, further strengthening the Commonwealth’s capacity, and ensuring an efficient and equitable distribution of vaccines across the country.
Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, said services will come online from 22 March.
“We all know the invaluable work our local GP’s do for our community,” Alex Hawke said. “Now we will see them play a vital role the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.”
‘Everyone belongs’ is the message across Australia this week as communities, schools, sports clubs and workplaces participate in Harmony Week celebrations from 15 to 21 March.
Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs, Alex Hawke, said Harmony Week brings people from all backgrounds together to celebrate our cultural diversity, and the shared values that transcend cultural differences and bring us together as Australians.
