It was an great opportunity to attend the University of Canberra Sydney Hills Campus (UCSH) located in the heart of Castle Hill. A university in the Hills is now a reality creating opportunities for locals to access higher education close to home. It is wonderful to see students from right across western Sydney studying here in the vital health sector which is so needed after the COVID -19 Pandemic.
For over 20 years it has been a pleasure to organise sites for Clean Up Australia Day. This practical, community-based initiative for our local environment was again strongly supported by our Winston Hills community helping to keep Third Settlement Reserve clean.
Thank you to all our enthusiastic and helpful volunteers, for all your hard work.
A big thank you to our fantastic community especially the Winston Hills Scouts and Girl Guides who put in a mammoth effort to ensure all supplies and safety measures were put in place.
This year marks the 33rd Anniversary of Clean Up Australia Day, an event I have participated in for over 15 years. I invite you to join me for this year’s event at Third Settlement Reserve, Winston Hills.
Expressions of interest for Round 8 of the Stronger Communities Programme (SCP8), giving community groups and local governing bodies an opportunity to nominate projects for grants of up to $20,000.
Mr HAWKE (Mitchell) (09:35): It's a privilege to rise today to speak about some of the significant achievers in my electorate in the Australia Day honours. Australia Day, of course, is widely celebrated in Mitchell and in north-west and Western Sydney. Whether reflecting on Australia's history or marking our successes as a modern nation, it is a well-received and supported day.
