The past few years have been tough with the COVID 19 pandemic, severe floods and storm damage to our region. Our communities have been hit hard by six floods in three years and sadly rural and regional NSW is still impacted by devasting floods. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone working, volunteer support, or carers for those in need during these times of trial.

Reports today that ascribe certain views regarding former Prime Minister, Scott Morrison are not representative of views I hold about him. Having known Scott Morrison for many years in many different capacities I have only the highest regard for his character, ability, and service as Prime Minister. Indeed, we have been friends for many years and my long-term, consistent, and positive views about Scott Morrison are well known and my views on the great success of the Government, under his leadership are forever on the public record for all to see.

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month we Remember all those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the great war.

At the Castle Hill RSL Sub Branch Remembrance Day Service we also heard a special tribute to Veteran Dennis Davis, a Rat of Tobruk, who sadly passed aged 102 in August 2022.

HM Queen Elizabeth The Second selflessly served the Commonwealth for an extraordinary 70 years. In honour of this historic milestone the previous federal Government launched a nation-wide ‘Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee Program’. Today I had the honour of attending the Commemoration of the Queen’s Jubilee Trees and pathway at Balcombe Heights Estate, Baulkham Hills. Thank you to Connie Keith and team for the vision of this fitting tribute in honour of HM Queen Elizabeth The Second.

Remembrance Day marks the anniversary of guns falling silent on the Western Front in the First World War: the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. Our nation stands in silent reflection for one minute each year to commemorate and honour the more than 102,000 Australians who have suffered and died in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

It is important that their service and sacrifice is never forgotten.
