The Local Sporting Champions program provides increased financial assistance for young sporting achievers (aged 12-18) who participate in state, national or international level championships then apply now for Round 2 of Mitchell Local Sporting Grants.

A grant of $500-$750 per individual is available to help meet costs such as travel, equipment, uniforms and accommodation.

It was a privilege to attend the Balcombe Heights Estate World War II War Memorial Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and pay tribute to our servicemen and women, in particular the men who attended the former Masonic school within the estate.
 
The existing memorial has been refurbished, with new granite stone steps, paving and a commemorative concrete seat. This project was funded with a $200,000 contribution from the Liberal Federal Government’s Local Roads and Infrastructure Program.

For over 120 years Australian men and women have served around the world in defence of our country, our allies, and our values.  Australian defence personnel have served with dignity, honour and bravery. We will never forget their service and their sacrifice, and this ANZAC Day we pause to remember and to thank them.

No matter how you mark Anzac Day this year - at a Dawn service, at your own home, at your local RSL, or watching the national service on television - I encourage all Australians to pause and reflect on all those who have served, and those who continue to serve.

The Treasurer, the Hon Josh Frydenberg, recently delivered the 2022-23 Federal Budget.

The last two years have been tough for our country. Despite the challenges, Australia’s economy is strong and unemployment is at 4%, the equal lowest in 48 years.

Around 69,300 taxpayers in Mitchell will benefit from tax relief of up to $1,500 this year, made up of the $1,080 low- and middle-income tax offset and a $420 cost of living tax offset.
