Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, is encouraging local community organisations in Mitchell to submit an expression of interest application for funding under the Stronger Communities Programme.
The Stronger Communities Programme – Round 6, announced in last year’s Budget, will continue to support Australia’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible applicants can apply for funding of at least $2,500 and up to a maximum of $20,000.

2020 has been a year that none of us will forget. After fires, flood and drought, our country was hit by COVID-19 and the impact to our way of life was significant.
Christmas is a wonderful opportunity for families, friends and neighbours to come together and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and Australia’s Christian heritage. It also a time to be grateful for the blessings of peace and prosperity we enjoy as a nation.
Mr HAWKE (Mitchell—Minister for International Development and the Pacific and Assistant Defence Minister) (10:39): Today I rise to speak about and thank those who assisted at a major fire which occurred recently within my electorate of Mitchell.
A local community group in Mitchell will benefit from a share of $2.7 million from the Morrison Government to support the work of local volunteers.
The grant awarded is between $1,000 and $5,000 and will enable the local organisation to better support their volunteers to purchase small equipment, pay fuel, transport and training costs.
