Mr HAWKE (Mitchell—Manager of Opposition Business) (15:11): My question is to the Prime Minister. On the front page of the Age today, it is reported that multiple CFMEU officials received gold bracelets as kickbacks from underworld crime figures. Also today, on the front page of the Courier-Mail, the CFMEU is openly threatening the Queensland parliament.
Being appointed by the Leader of the Opposition, the Hon Sussan Ley MP, as the Shadow Minister for Industry and Innovation in the new Shadow Ministry is an honour. In this role, I have already been meeting with various industry stakeholders from diverse sectors. Supporting Australian businesses relies on good policy settings across government, not just the quantum of funds being selectively invested into pet projects.
