Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP, has encouraged residents of Mitchell to mark Carers Week 2014.
“Providing care to a loved one in need – whether it be due to age, disability or mental illness – is a role that many Australians will take on at some stage during their lives,” Alex Hawke said.
“Almost 2.7 million Australians fulfil a caring role. Carers Week is a great time to stop and reflect on the role carers play in our society.”

“Badgerys Creek has been assessed and reassessed in some of the most comprehensive environmental process in our history, but the Australian Government is determined to make sure the site still stacks up, Alex Hawke said.
The Federal Government has announced a new headspace centre providing mental health services for young people will be established in Mitchell.
Alex Hawke MP, Federal Member for Mitchell, joined with representatives of the Hills Mental Health Interagency, Clr Dr Michelle Byrne and Daya Howpage (Mind Connections), Supt Rob Critchlow, Hills Local Area Command and Rowena Stulajter, Rebecca Deep and Jane Austen of 2realise, announced today that Castle Hill would be one of 15 additional communities across Australia provided with a headspace facility.
Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP, accepted the challenge from the many friends and colleagues including, David Ali, President of Motor Neurone Disease Australia to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket challenge.
“The point of this ALS campaign, known in Australia as Motor Neurone Disease (MND), is to raise vital funds for research to ensure we find a cure for this appalling disease.
