Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, said the Government’s first Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman is a big win for small businesses in Mitchell.

“This week Ms Kate Carnell AO was appointed to the new role of Ombudsman.

“Ms Carnell will provide small businesses in Mitchell access to advice and support, and will be an independent advocate to ensure the Government creates the right conditions for small businesses to grow,” Alex Hawke said.

The Commonwealth Government is calling for public submissions on ways to boost the supply of affordable rental housing through innovative financing models.

This follows the establishment of a working group tasked with identifying ways to increase affordable housing supply for those on low incomes, and implementing trials of models in cooperation with states and territories.

“One of the keys to increasing the supply and availability of affordable rental housing is attracting investment,” said Mr Porter.

The Government is issuing a final call for individuals, businesses and community groups to provide their views regarding priorities for the 2016-17 Budget.

“I remind interested parties to lodge submissions as soon as possible, and no later than Friday 5 February 2016,” the Assistant Minister to the Treasurer, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, said.

“As I outlined on 18 December 2015, the 2016-17 Budget will continue the Government’s commitment to restrain expenditure responsibly, while supporting economic growth to lift revenues.”

jobactive will help local job seekers in Mitchell to become work ready and undertake training and work experience that will improve their chances of finding and keeping a job” Alex Hawke said
