Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, encourages the community to pause for one minute’s silence at 11am on Wednesday, 11 November 2015, to pay tribute to the men and women who have served, and those who continue to serve our nation in times of war, conflict and on peacekeeping operations.
“This year marks the 97th anniversary of the Armistice which ended the First World War (1914–18).On Remembrance Day, Wednesday 11 November, we remember all of them, Australians who gave so much for their country,” Alex Hawke said.

The Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, together with Miss Ronie Quinn, Chief Executive Officer, hosted 160 local students at the Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum at Vision Valley from the 8th – 10th October 2015.
“The Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum was an amazing success with 160 students from 15 local high schools involved – the Forum is a significant opportunity for the students to be inspired and encouraged for their future potential in the lead up to their final year of school.
Residents of Mitchell can now have their say on the development of a Western Sydney Airport, with the Australian Government releasing the draft Airport Plan and the draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for public consultation.
Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, said the proposed airport will be an important driver for Western Sydney’s economy and provide more jobs in the region, with the declaration of Commonwealth-owned land at Badgerys Creek as the airport site in July already paying dividends.
Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP, welcomed his appointment to the executive as the Assistant Minister to the Treasurer in the Turnbull Government.
“I was humbled to be given the opportunity by the Prime Minister to serve as the Assistant Minister to the Treasurer.
Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP, today said The Hills Men’s Shed would benefit from the Abbott Government’s Father’s Day announcement to secure funding for the organisation until 2019.
Alex Hawke said Round 11 of the National Shed Development Programme was currently open and The Hills Men’s Shed could apply for up to $8,000 in funding. Applications for round 11 close on September 18.
