Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, is inviting organisations in the Hills district to put forth fresh and innovative ideas to help vulnerable young Australians find and keep a job.
Minister for Employment Senator Michaelia Cash today released the grant guidelines for the new Empowering YOUth Initiatives, inviting organisations to apply for funding to deliver projects that help young people at risk of welfare dependency into work.
Community organisations in Mitchell are encouraged to apply for a grant of up to $5000 to assist the work of their volunteers.
Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, said the funding is being provided under a $20 million Volunteer Grant funding round, announced by the Minister for Social Services, the Hon Christian Porter MP.
“This is a great opportunity for community organisations in Mitchell to apply for a grant of between $1,000 and $5,000 to help make the work of their volunteers easier, safer and more enjoyable,” Alex Hawke said.

The Turnbull Government this week launched an online survey after Australians dumped or downgraded half-a-million ‘all-inclusive’ private health insurance policies last year, with record numbers flocking to cheaper cover with exclusions and excesses.
Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, welcomed the commencement of the Governments new National Work Experience Programme which seeks to help job seekers gain valuable experience in workplaces around the country.
“This programme will give job seekers in Mitchell an opportunity to experience a placement in a work-like role so they can showcase their skills to a potential employer,” said Alex Hawke.
Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, welcomes the announcement of the Australian Government’s Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships for 2016 which will provide study opportunities for Australian and international students.
“I am pleased that two students from my electorate of Mitchell have received an Endeavor Research Fellowship to study at the University of Glasgow and the National Centre for Global Health and Medicine in Scotland and Japan,” Alex Hawke said.
