Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP, said the launch of the Australian Government’s ‘An invitation that could save your life’ campaign will boost screening awareness in at risk groups.

Breast cancer is the second most common cause of cancer-related deaths among women in Australia, however if detected early and managed nine-out-of-10 cases can be successfully treated.

Alex Hawke said all Australian women aged 50 to 74 will receive an invitation that could save their life as part of a $55.7 million initiative.

Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP, invites local not-for profit community organisations to apply for the 2015 Community Heritage grants. 

Grants of up to $15,000 are available to not-for-profit community groups across Australia to preserve and manage nationally significant cultural heritage collections of documents and objects for future generations. Projects supported include significance assessments, preservations needs assessments, conservation activities and collection management.

Schools across New South Wales will ‘take a stand together’ today as part of the 2015 National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence.

Now in its fifth year, the day is of national importance to schools all around Australia, with a total of 1974 schools and 882,435 students taking part this year. 

Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP, on behalf of the Australian Government said students and school communities across Mitchell and Australia are continuing to 'take a stand' every day against bullying and violence.

Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke said pensioners in Mitchell are $51.80 per fortnight better off for singles and $78 per fortnight for couples since the Coalition Government was elected following a further rise in the age pension today.

The Coalition Government has today announced a further $305 million in red tape reduction decisions to ease the burden on Australian businesses, community organisations, families and individuals.

Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP, said the measures in the Coalition's third Repeal Day built on the $2.1 billion in red tape reduction decisions announced by the Government in October 2014.
