The Hon Tony
Abbott made a clear election commitment that the Government’s first item of
parliamentary business would be to repeal the carbon tax. Our Prime
Minister has today announced from 1 July 2014, the carbon tax will be
abolished. This will lower costs for Mitchell
businesses and ease cost of living pressures for households.
The exposure drafts
of the carbon tax repeal bills are now available online
for public consideration and the Government invites submissions. Final
date for submissions is 5pm, Monday, 4 November 2013.

Since September 2001, hundreds of Australian families
have been impacted by major terrorist events in New York, Bali, Jakarta,
London, Egypt, Mumbai and Nairobi.
In 2012,
the previous Government agreed to provide financial assistance to victims of
terrorism, but only for future victims and not existing victims. In 2011, I
made a speech in the Parliament supporting Tony
Abbott, in pushing this worthy cause through the House. I am proud to be part
of a newly elected Government that has rectified this anomaly.
The

As a member of the Abbott government, we will
do a better job for the country as well as fixing our economy nationally. I will continue fighting for
smaller, better Government and advocating for the concerns of our community.
The Abbott government will
get our debt and deficit under control and run the economy well. We will
immediately act to reduce the red tape burden on our businesses, large, medium
and small. We will abolish the Carbon Tax and Mining taxes and we will get our
borders under control.
We will make Australia stronger and better
and we won't let you down.
Alex
Hawke MP, Liberal Candidate for Mitchell, today congratulated the Centenary of
ANZAC Hills Community Committee on their successful application under the ANZAC
Centenary Local Grants Program for a $100,000 grant. I
am delighted to be able to announce today that our community was among the
first to apply for this funding and has been the first to be successful in
being granted funding.
The Centenary of ANZAC will be the most significant
national period of commemoration in our nation’s history. The
committee, ably led by Colonel Don Tait OAM, has worked incredibly hard to
ensure that the programme commemorating the Centenary of ANZAC is one which is
dignified and inclusive and one that will bring our community together. Click here to read further.
